FDA Approves Botulinum A Toxin for Severe Chronic Migraine Print E-mail

Southwest Florida’s leading Neuroscience Specialty Team, Providing complete Neurological and Neurosurgical care.

NAPLES , FL (June 1, 2005) In response to an increasing prevalence of migraines and serer headaches, Neuroscience and Spine Associates has opened Southwest Florida’s first and only Headache Center at 1660 Medical Blvd in Naples.

“Migraine is a very serious problem affecting adults, particularly women and children,” said headache specialist Michael A. Novak, M.D. “ Headache clinics in New England, Chicago and nationwide are dedicated to clinical study, diagnosis and treatment of this condition and we definitely need the same resources here in Southwest Florida”.

Dr. Novak has implemented the model for The Headache Center by establishing procedures for complete headache evaluation and diagnosis. His staff will address migraines with a customized treatment plan for each patient that can include a combination of drug therapy, nutrition and counseling and lifestyle programs. A medical evaluation will determine the patient’s triggers for a migraine, which can include stress, hormones. Sleep disorders, weather changes or food sensitivity.

A unique feature if The Headache Center is the emergency migraine clinic: A therapist is available during office hours, evenings and weekends to see the patient at the very first onset of symptoms.

“We have treated patients with migraine or chronic headache discomfort for years,” said Dr. Novak. “The Headache Center will focus specifically on this problem and serve as recourse for those who are suffering and seeking relief.”

Dr. Novak is a diplomat of the American Board of Neurology and Psychology with a specialty in headache and migraine.

Neuroscience & Spine Associates have 5 easy to find locations in Naples and Fort Myers and a MRI Center in Naples.
